Best Drink Pairings for Tacos

Check out these seriously great pairings for our delicious tacos.  Although we obviously think that Tacos & Beer are a match made in heaven, we know these cocktails will just as spectacular. Our favorite handheld snack often needs a companion and we’ve got some ideas that are going to make all of your taco dreams come true. 

Taco: Carne Asada

Drink: Gimme Some Honey

Whiskey and steak make for the perfect smokey combo. For something a bit sweeter, try a classic old fashioned with bourbon instead of whiskey.

 

 

Taco: Chicken Tinga

Drink: Gin & Tonic

Who doesn’t love a chicken taco? To help enhance the spicy flavors of the chicken tinga taco, get an extra lime or two. The refreshing gin and tonic will help keep the spice at bay. We recommend either Tanquery or Bombay Sapphire gin to create the perfect flavor profile.

 

Taco: Rajas Con Crema

Drink: Paloma

Indulge in one of our delicious veggie tacos paired with the simple, yet complex Paloma. Allow the bright flavors to come through for a perfect pair. 

 

Taco: Carnitas

Drink: Tequila Sangria

Red wine and succulent pork are the perfect match. Why not carry that ideology over to Mexican food? The combo of the savory slow-roasted pork and a sweet tangy red sangria are what makes this combo irresistible. 

Taco: Baja Fish

Drink: Rose Guava Caipirinha 

A play on a classic Caipirinha, our specialty cocktail combined with our delicious Baja Fish Taco will have you questioning if you’ve just been transported to a tropical destination.

Can you go wrong with lime and shrimp? Our classic margaritas bring out the zest in our cilantro-lime slaw and complement the juicy shrimp and creamy chili crema. Now that is a perfect classic drink and taco pairing!

The Best Guacamole Recipes

Guacamole. A pillar of Mexican food, the glue that holds together the perfect meal. A staple in our lives and most likely, yours as well. We’re about to get very controversial as we discuss the elements of the perfect guacamole. 

First, let us take you back in time. Guacamole was first eaten by the Aztecs in the 16th-century and was made purely of avocado. Originally called Āhuacamolli, meaning “avocado sauce”, the word developed into what we now know as guacamole. The traditional dish began to develop with the additions of smashed tomato and avocado, giving it complexity and additional flavor. 

The guacamole that we know today has much more complexity, dynamics, and more ingredients. Although some people like it plain and simple with the main ingredients, at Tacos & Beer, we like to add some additional flair, we’ll let the people decide. 

Here are some guacamole recipes that we’re currently loving: 

Love & Lemons Best Guacamole Ever

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • ¼ cup finely chopped cilantro
  • Zest and juice of 2 limes
  • 1 small diced jalapeño
  • ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt, more to taste

Pomegranate Guacamole 

  • 2 medium ripe avocados
  • 1/3 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 Tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

  • 2 Avocados
  • 1/4 cup red onion (diced small)
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro (chopped fine)
  • 2 tablespoons jalapeño (fresh, diced fine)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced fine)
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate arils
  • 1/4 cup pepitas (toasted)
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco® Sauce
  • juice of 2 limes
  • salt and pepper to taste
